Not much to report here. I mainly just wanted to
get some pictures uploaded of the girls before the March 31st deadline.
Life goes back and forth between being busy and not. This past week
and weekend was more of those busy times. This week my goal is to
spring clean and get rid of the winter clutter. Anyway, check out
the girls' March album
on the girls' page. I have a few more
pictures to add, but they're currently on the other computer (too
tired and lazy right now to obtain them).
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. To say that
I've been under the weather lately would be an understatement. The
illness that the girls had a few weeks ago made it's way through
my body. The fun part was that I also had a day chock full of vomiting.
It happened to be last Saturday that this happened, and Mike was
home working on his Jeep. On my second trip to the barf bowl while
glimpsing the girls throwing beads at each other, apparently from
a broken necklace, I decided it was not enough to just let them
fend for themselves all day. I called Mike, while hunched over said
barf bowl, to request his babysitting services for the rest of the
day. My apologies for being so graphic, but it affected me harshly.
By Monday I was feeling a bit better even though I had no voice
by then. However, I fooled myself into thinking I was healthy too
soon because by Thursday evening my sore throat was making an encore
appearance and continued until late last night. The remains are
minimal, and I actually felt well enough to return to the YMCA today.
During my recovery period I made myself a mix disc and gave Mike
a copy. One particular song struck a chord with him because he couldn’t
stop singing it all weekend and kept talking about the possible
meanings. “I wonder if it’s about two guys that made
a rocket. And one of the guys launched it while the other went to
go get a tool or something,” he would say. I would just shrug
my shoulders and say, “I don’t really care, I just like
the song and how it’s got those little xylophone sounds.”
I decided to search for the video and found this. I hope Mike can
now put to rest all his theories. If you’re curious it's “Launch
Yourself” by Adem.
The girls (well, mostly Mimi) have gotten into the nasty habit
of waking up several times a night just wanting me to check in.
My guess is that it's because they woke up constantly while they
were both sick and now think that that's part of the program around
here. I don't know how they can get up the next morning all refreshed
while I feel like I haven't slept in months. The maddening part
is that each time I'd go into their room whichever girl who was
not awake didn't even stir from all the racket. It's so unfair!
Annie can now write her name all by herself and is venturing onto
new letters as well. It's funny though because sometimes she'll
forget a letter from her name and just attach it at the beginning
or end like that would be completely acceptable. Annie's also showing
much interest in drawing. Of course, I'm always up for shoving paper
and drawing utensils at her to keep her busy. Anything to keep her
busy!
Mimi has been cracking us up lately. "It's so coooode (cold),"
sounds so cute when she says it. As mentioned before Mimi has this
strange sound that she makes regularly. We've recently nicknamed
her "Zuul" whenever she makes the sound. "There is
no Mimi, there is only Zuul," is also usually what we say.
If you've seen Ghostbusters (ALOT), then you should know what I'm
talking about. We still love her though despite sometimes being
possessed by a demon. I've been too lazy to either take pictures
of the girls or to download the ones that have been on the camera,
but I figure the video (see above) will suffice (for now). I promise
to share some pictures soon.
Mike is at it again...he's just plain different
(weird if not being p.c.). If I leave him alone for too long, then
he tends to do things in which I won't approve. For instance, while
out on a shopping trip with Trang a few weeks ago, I got a phone
call from Mike. In a hurried tone, he informed me that an eBay auction
was to end any minute and could he buy a Jeep. Yes, a real car,
and I was given about 2 minutes notice about the purchase. And,
with Mike, there's no asking. He's already got his mind made up
when he "asks for permission". I think guilt just sets
in enough to make him tell me before he takes the plunge. Lucy was
another one of these "decisions" that I wasn't really
given any choice in the matter. Fortunately, he had enough sense
to speak with me first before the purchase of an airplane. Yes,
a real airplane! He also had enough sense to know that this hair-brained
scheme was a little beyond what we could handle at this point in
our lives. Now, fast-forward to the present. Mike made another strange
purchase...a jumpsuit (see below, and he is also wearing an ascot).
I don't know how to explain it other than to show you. I wasn't
informed of this acquisition until the package arrived on the doorstep.
I will admit that Mike has mentioned on a few occasions that a jumpsuit
would be a nice addition to his wardrobe, but I never thought he
would actually get one. As Chris W. has always said, my neck must
get awfully tired from the shaking back-and-forth after dealing
with Mike's antics. Mike wants me to mention that Annie did say
in reference to Daddy's new jumpsuit, "It's so beautiful!"
The girls have had a not-so-fun weekend. Both were
struck with the fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose bug. Annie
actually began her journey back in February over a week ago but
was well and showed no more symptoms by Monday (or so it seemed).
Then on Friday night, she was very feverish and as cranky as a 120-year-old
man. Mimi decided to jump in on Saturday afternoon with her fever.
Mike and I decided it would probably be best to have them checked
out by the doctor. Strep cultures were taken and negative--thank
goodness. Last night they both slept until 6:00 p.m. from their
naps. Mike was not happy about this as his hunger had gotten the
best of him. Annie seems to be back to normal today while Mimi is
still coughing profusely. Hopefully, things will be back to normal
by mid-week. Just take a look out how sick these kids were ;)
The project that has been eating up much of my
time lately is slowly coming to an end. As some of you know, I have
done a few web design jobs on the side--mostly for fun and the learning
experience. This latest venture helped me to gain a ton of new knowledge
in the way of MySQL and PHP. This is probably foreign language to
most but basically means that I can now handle uploading an unlimited
number of products to a website without having to work on each product
one-by-one. Do you know what this means? Large-scale e-commerce
web design is now a possibility for me. There are also a ton of
other ways to apply to my new skills. Feel free to check out the
project here: www.twinpapers.com.
Keep in mind that there are still a lot of bugs/typos to work out.
